This course provides an in-depth review of cardiovascular and pulmonary (CVP) anatomy, physiology and development. Up to date pathophysiology will be discussed for the commonly seen adult CV and pediatric CVP diagnoses. Clinical tips will be assimilated into all course material for direct application to daily patient care experiences. Participants will learn about CVP diagnostic testing including why tests are performed, how to interpret these tests and how to apply results to your interventions. You will acquire treatment approaches for adult CVP patients including primary and secondary prevention for CV diseases and advanced interventions for complex CV patients. This course will teach you to conduct a thorough pediatric chest examination, why these tests are performed, and how to apply the results to their interventions. We will discuss the ramifications of invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation on the fragile pediatric airway and review the various settings of these oxygen delivery devices. Participants will obtain treatment approaches for the pediatric patient including airway clearance and breathing exercises and strategies for pediatric patients on invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilators. Content is based on evidence and is designed to allow direct application to the Practitioner’s clinical practice.
