COURSE DESCRIPTION: 

This course provides didactic instruction in physiology, anatomy, pathology, medical interventions and management, diagnostic testing, pharmacological, examination/screening, diagnosis, prognosis, therapeutic and management concepts related to specialty-level cardiovascular and pulmonary (CVP) physical therapy (PT) practice across the life span. The course also presents specific PT instruction in examination, evaluation, patient care program development, intervention, and progression of the CVP patient across settings. Content is correlated to the CVP Description of Specialty Practice (DSP), thus, participants will also receive instruction on teaching, learning, administration, ethics, leadership and research.  The course is evidence-based and designed to allow direct application in the practitioner’s clinical practice.

TEACHING METHODS: Recorded lectures, case studies, practice tests, quizzes, worksheets, clinical case discussion, comparison tables, videos, memorization techniques, knowledge checks, exam day simulation, and reading assignments.
