Today, clinicians in all practice settings are faced with managing patients with more complex medical conditions than before, including complicated cardiac and pulmonary diseases. This course will provide participants with a full spectrum of knowledge and techniques to evaluate and treat people with cardiopulmonary conditions in all practice settings. This course was developed to help those who are trying to prepare for the Advanced Practice Boards, as well as help those who are planning to teach this content in DPT programs. In addition, clinicians who wish to learn in greater depth about the most common cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases will benefit greatly from this course. Both speakers are passionate about discovering new ways to teach cardiopulmonary physical therapy topics and improve the health of people with cardiopulmonary conditions. Cannot attend this course?
Course Objectives:
- Analyze case studies of patients with cardiovascular and pulmonary dysfunction to understand all components of chart and determine complexity
- Apply knowledge of CV and Pulmonary diseases to cases using clinical reasoning to develop optimal plans of care for similar patients
- Discuss all diagnostic tests and their implications for patient assessment and interventions
- Describe effects of various medications as well as potential side effects that could delay or prevent progression of mobility
