Morgan Keller Johanson, PT, MSPT

Board Certified Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Specialist

Morgan Johanson has 21 years of experience practicing Physical Therapy (PT) in the cardiovascular and pulmonary (CVP) patient population.  She received her Master of Science in PT from the University of California, San Francisco, in 2003.  She is an ABPTS certified CVP Clinical Specialist and an APTA certified Advanced Clinical Instructor.  She is ACLS certified.

She is currently the President of Good Heart Education which is a continuing education company that provides in person and online seminars covering rehabilitation for patients with CVP disease across the continuum of care and age span. In addition, Good Heart Education offers mentoring for PTs who are studying for the ABPTS CVP Specialty (CCS) Examination.

She was a Level 3 Acute Care PT at the California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) and was the Coordinator for the Inpatient and Outpatient Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System (VAAAHS). In addition, she was a Co-Director, mentor, faculty member and research advisor for the VAAAHS CVP PT Residency Program. She practiced PT at the Grand Traverse Pavilions Skilled Nursing Facility in Traverse City, Michigan.

She is currently a full-time faculty member at St. Catherine’s University in St. Paul, MN. Prior to this, she was a part-time faculty member at the University of Toledo, Ohio DPT Program, a guest lecturer at the University of Michigan, Flint DPT program, and an adjunct faculty member at South College in Knoxville and Atlanta. She is currently an adjunct faculty member for the VAAAHS CVP PT Residency Program.

In 2004, she received the Service Star for excellence in patient care from CPMC and in 2022, she received the Merit Award from the Academy of CVP PT.  She is a contributing author to the 4th and 5th Editions of the Essentials of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy by Ellen Hillegass. She is the lead author of the Entry-Level Physical Therapist Competencies in Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Physical Therapy.

She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the APTA Academy of CVP PT, the APTA Academy of Acute Care, and the APTA Minnesota Chapter. She is the Vice President for the APTA Academy of CVP PT.
