Morgan Johanson, President of Good Heart Education, is the lecturer for this full-day webinar

Description:
This course provides an up to date and in-depth review of cardiovascular (CV) pathophysiology for the commonly seen CV diagnoses. Clinicians will understand how to determine and recognize severity of disease and how that impacts Physical Therapy (PT) interventions. Participants will learn how to understand common CV diagnostic tests and labs including why tests are performed, how to interpret these tests and how to apply results to your PT interventions. You will acquire treatment approaches for adult CV patients including primary and secondary prevention for cardiovascular diseases (CVD), ICU and acute care PT interventions for patients with CVD and advanced interventions for patients with complex CVD. This course also provides a comprehensive study of how CV outcome measures can be utilized in the acute care setting to assist with case management, discharge recommendations, assessment of deficits, and progression of the treatment plan. Content is based on evidence and clinical tips will be assimilated into all course material to allow direct application to daily patient care experiences.

Course Objectives:

  1. Explain the pathophysiology of commonly seen CV diseases
  2. Analyze CV diagnostic tests and explain how they will impact PT Interventions
  3. State primary and secondary prevention recommendations for CVD
  4. Interpret vital sign response to be able to appropriately manage patients with CV disease
  5. Create and progress treatment plans for patients with DV diseases
  6. Select, administer, and interpret CV outcome measures
  7. Define pulmonary hypertension, cardiogenic shock and heart failure, and integrate treatment approaches to improve patient performance
